Culture-Vultures - FAQ
What is speed-courting?
Speed-courting (formerly known as spedd-d**ing) is the acceptable modern way for people to meet each other whilst also enjoying a good night out. On arrival at the Culture Vultures venue you will be welcomed and registered by a Culture Vultures team member. There will then be a short period while you will be able to settle in, mingle, get a drink and take in the surroundings of our cool venue. We will give you a brief introduction to the evening explaining everything that you will need to know. You will also receive a prided and much sought after Culture Vultures badge and number for the evening. The Speed Courting event is split into two halves with a short interval in between. During the event ladies always remain seated at their allocated table and the gentlemen move from table to table in numerical order around the room. A whistle blow signifies the end of each courtship and a double blow signifies a break. Each courtship lasts for 4 mins. Enough time to weigh up a potential partner, put the world to rights and have a good old natter.
What kind of people go speed courting with the Culture-Vultures?
Culture-Vultures come from a broad spectrum of London Inteligencia. We have the bourgeoisie and the Proletariat, all mingling freely with airs, graces and humility. Typically Culture Vultures are young professionals that simply don't have the time to meet as many new people as they would like.
What the devil is speed-debating?
Speed-debating is a new fun concept aimed at giving Culture Vultures the chance to learn something new on a fun, interesting, sometimes downright wacky subject. Debating is an age old art that has been neglected with the invention of the Nintendo Wii. We are bringing it back in style. At our speed-debating events we provide a topic that can be discuseed and debated between Culture Vuktures. The format is still the same as speed - courting ie 4 minutes 20 ladies and 20 gents. However dusing the 4 minutes you will be able to engage each other on a subject of contentious hot debate if you so wish eg which is the finer fruit, the apple or the orange? The Beatles or Elvis? You get the score.
Why should I book with Culture Vultures?
We believe in using THE best venues creating the ideal atmosphere for our events. We believe in a non formal, electric atmosphere. Our Culture-Vulture events are about having a laugh, learning something new and having a good evening - as well as hopefully meeting someone special!
I like someone I met but I didnt get their number - can you give it to me??
Well at the moment we are maintaining our policy of NOT having a 'log in' aspect to our site. Other, ahem, speed - d**ing companies have rather corney systems where users can log in and class people they met as 'friends', or 'mtaches' etc. We beleive this is a little cold calculating and inhumane. We are different and beleive that if 2 Culture Vultures appear to like each other they will exchange details bewteen one another at, or after, the event. Failing that they will come along to the next event and be sure to exchange numbers then! We are looking into other ways of allowing Culture Vultures to exchange details without the need for cold 'scoring systems' or 'friendship matches' etc etc
When are you going to have more venues?
Not yet. We are working on it. Watch this space. Our flagship venue, 'the Salisbury' is without a doubt the coolest and most refined pub in London. We are happy with the atmosphere, decor and general ambiance there as it fiots the Cuklture Vulures ethos. We will only expand venues when we are happy we have found somewhere as cool as the Salisbury. No cheap tacky bars are acceptable for the Culture Vultures. Our 'key pointers' for a venue is - old antiquated, traditional English pub types, full of charm and character - just like the Culture Vultures who come to our events and the Culture Vulture team!
